Highlights

1992 - The first annual American Education Fair was held at the Taipei Institute of Technology, with 25 participating schools. The purpose was to help Taiwanese learn about studying in the United States, by bringing together prospective students, parents and counselors with American school representatives.

1993~1994 - Due to its initial success, the American Education Fairs moved to the Taipei Central Library, and was co-sponsored by the Ministry of Education. Participating schools increased to 40.

1995~1996 - As attendance grew, the American Education Fairs moved to the Taipei Lai-Lai-Sheraton Hotel, and a spring fair was added. Additionally, the southern city Kaohsiung was included on the fall and spring itineraries. The fairs were again co-sponsored by the Ministry of Education. Sixty schools participated.

1996~2000 - By this time, two American Education Fairs were conducted in spring and fall, both at Taipei and Kaohsiung. The fairs were co-sponsored by American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), which functions as an U.S. Embassy, and U.S. Department of Commerce. Nearly 100 schools participated.

2001 - The fairs continued in the spring and fall at Taipei and Kaohsiung, however, another mid-island city Taichung was added. The spring fair, co-sponsored with AIT, featured more than 70 participants. The event remains the premier recruiting fair in Taiwan after nearly a decade of service.
